Horizon House Watch is a project of SEIU Healthcare 775NW. It is part of an campaign for fair compensation and treatment of workers by the management of Horizon House Retirement Community.

The bargaining committee of the workers at Horizon House, as part of SEIU Healthcare 775NW, is working diligently to negotiate a fair contract. We ask that Horizon House management step forward and bargain in a spirit of respect and fairness.

Horizon House Retirement Community:

Horizon House is a retirement community in downtown Seattle founded on the progressive principles of the United Church of Christ. UCC members created Horizon House so that people who believe in social justice could retire in a community that reflects those values.

Caregivers and support staff work tirelessly to create a positive, safe and progressive environment at Horizon House. In the past, this led to respect – productive, honest, and fair negotiations between management and the workers’ union.

Unfortunately, the ideals of Horizon House’s management seem to have changed.

Union Busters?

In the last year, Horizon House management invested in an expensive union-busting law firm instead of investing in its workforce. The law firm has stonewalled in worker contract negotiations, while mangers created an atmosphere of fear and demoralization for its union workers.
